Basic steps for steeping Pu’er tea

1.Preparing the tea set: Select a suitable tea set and get ready Pu'er tea;

2.Warming up and cleansing the teapot: Pour boiling water into the teapot forwarming up and cleansing the tea set;

3.Putting tea into teapot;

4.Moistening the tea: To waken up the tea, pour boiling water into the teapot andthen quickly pour it out;

5.Steeping the tea: Based on practical needs, steep the tea for an appropriate time;

6.Serving the tea juice: lo ensureeven concentration and color of the tea juice, pourthe juice in teapot into a public cup, and then evenly pour it into the drinkerscups.

 

Steeping Pu’er Tea

1.Best tea-steeping water and water temperature: Use mineral water or purified water to steep Pu’er tea. It is ideal that the tea-steeping water be boiled to 90°C to 100 °.

2.Amount of tea: By using a tea-cutting knife, gently cut open the tea lump (cake or brick) between its layers. Amount of tea used for steeping might be determined in accordance with the number of drinkers. 3-5 grams is suitable for serving fewer drinkersand 8-10 grams is sufficient for serving more drinkers.

3.Tea wakening: Put the tea into a teapot, pour boiling water (which is for wakening the tea and purifying the tea juice). A moment later, pour out the tea-wakening water.

4.Teapot for steeping the tea:
1)Pottery teapot: To fully show the genuine attributes and special characteristicsof Pu’er tea, it is recommended to use a larger teapot for steeping the tea. Thanks to its large size and classical, unconstrained features, a pottery teapot proves to be the ideal choice for steeping Pu’er tea.
2)Purple pottery teapot: Containing ventilation pores and having heat-insulating function, a purple pottery teapot is ideal for steeping Pu’er tea.
3)Teacup with lid: Boasting graceful and cute shape, a lid-provided teacup is also ideal for steeping Pu’er tea.

5.Conventional cups: To fully appreciate the unique charm of Pu’er teajuice, it is recommended to use a large, transparent glass cup for steeping Pu’er tea. In such glass cup, the juice of fermented Pu’er tea would shine the color of amber or agate which remains unchanged while flavor of the juice would last repeated steeping; juice of unfermented Pu’er tea would radiate crystal-clear splendor that suggests film-enwrapped sweet dews with enduring color and taste.
